Abstract

1334762 Windscreen and headlamp cleaning systems SAAB-SCANIA A B 22 July 1971 [4 Aug 1970] 34515/71 Heading A4F A windscreen and headlamp cleaning system comprises a multi-position manually operable selector switch 12 settable in four consecutive positions for providing (1) wiper parking (2) operation of a windscreen wiper motor 10 at low speed (3) operation of the wiper motor 10 at high speed without windscreen washing, and (4) operation of the wiper motor 10 at high speed with simultaneous energization of a motor 15 driving a windscreen washer pump. Also in switch positions (3) and (4) a relay coil 22 is energized to operate a headlamp wiper motor 20 without headlamp washing in position (3), but with energization in position (4) of a motor 25 driving a headlamp washer pump. If the circuit breaker 13 is moved to position O washing and wiping of both headlamps and windscreen is effected independently of the position of the selector switch 12. The headlamp and windscreen control units A1, B1 may be replaced by unit A2, A3, or A4 Fig.3, 4, or 5, (not shown) and unit B2 or B3 Fig. 2 or 4 (not shown). In the unit A2 the energization of the relay coil 22 is delayed by a transistor circuit (26). The units A3, B3 are used together and have one terminal of each of the motors 15, 25 constantly earthed. In the unit A4 a further relay (16, 17) is provided between the relay coil 22 and the terminals L, M; and in the unit B2 the circuit breaker 13 has a single movable contact.
