Abstract
1334731 One-way brakes DAVAAL GEAR CO Ltd 5 April 1972 [5 Jan 1971 24 Aug 1971] 466/71 and 39674/71 Heading F2E A brake mechanism comprising two rotatable shafts drivingly interconnected so that one shaft is driven by the second shaft in either direction but the second shaft can drive the one shaft in one direction only further than a predetermined angular amount, braking means preventing the driving in the other direction further than the angular amount. The braking means comprises a sleeve connected to a frame so that it can only move an amount less than a complete circle. The one shaft, e.g. connected to a window moving arm, 102 has opposed flats forming a cam surface with rollers 10 or 109 providing a roller clutch with the sleeve. The second shaft, e.g. from a handle or window winder motor, has four driving dogs 7a, 7b, 7c, 7d or a sleeve 103 with two asymmetrical recesses 108 holding the rollers; in the former embodiment, a spring 14 biases the rollers 10 to the dogs 7b, 7d. There is clearance between the flats and the dogs or sleeve providing a lost motion connection which displaces the rollers with respect to the flats so that the mechanism functions as desired.
