Abstract

1334565 Sealing strips INDUSTRIE-EN HANDELSONDERNEMING ELTON NV 30 Sept 1971 [10 June 1971] 45552/71 Heading E1J [Also in Division F2] The arrowhead-shaped foot 8 of a resilient draught strip 5 (rubber or plastics) is forced into a groove 9 in a lath 2 of stiffer material (metal, wood or plastics) by means of a roller 6 whose axis is perpendicular to the plane of symmetry of foot 8 and lath groove 9. The lath 2 and strip 5 are guided as they each advance, the former by a guide track 1, and the latter by a guide track (4, Fig 1 not shown) inclined, in a vertical plane, to the guide track 1 and having a V-shaped cross-section with the apex pointing towards the guide track 1. The speed of the strip engaging roller 6 is at least equal to the speed at which the lath is advanced by a roller 3, and is preferably greater so that lengthwise compression of the strip 5 in the groove 9 is obtained. The roller 6 is vertically adjustable. The groove 9 may be completely open at the top or partially closed. In either case part of the foot is in transverse compression.
