Abstract

1334532 Automatic choke control systems JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 4 Jan 1971 [17 Jan 1970] 2369/70 Heading F1B [Also in Division G4] In an automatic choke control system, switch 13 is operated when the generator speed reaches a predetermined level to energize electromagnet 28 to (1) move choke cable back one step towards its inoperative position and (2) step wipers 17, 29 from contacts 22, 34 to contacts 21, 33 respectively to break the circuit to electromagnets 28. When the temperature sensed by resistor 27 reaches a predetermined level transistor 38 is turned off to turn on a thyristor 43 so that a second electromagnet 37 is energized by a diode 47 to (1) break the circuit to thyristor 43 and (2) step the choke cable. As the temperature rises through pre-selected values (determined by the values of resistors 23, 24, 35, 36) the electromagnets are sequentially energized until the choke cable is in its inoperative position. Thermistor 52 caters for changes in ambient temperature.
