Clutches, friction; operating.clutches. - In multiple-plate friction clutches, specially adapted for use as steering-clutches in chain-trach tractors, bolts secured in the driving-member pass through an annular depression in the presser-plate and carry adjustable springs bearing against the plate and mainly carried within the depression. A sleeve 3 secured nn the driving-shaft A is connected to an outer driven part 10 by disks 7, 9 normally engaged by springs 17 bearing within a. depression 18 against the pressen-plate 14 and carried by bolts 19 secured in the driving-part 3. A nut 19<1> and washer 20 are provided for adjustment. A dust-excluding cover 21 is secured to the part 10 and has packing 23 bearing on the hub 15 of the plate 14, which carries the clutch-actuating collar 27 by means of a. ball bearing enclosed by an end plate 28 and by a flange 29 on the collar provided with packing 30.
