Abstract

1333726 Jet looms MACHINEFABRIEK L TE STRAKE NV 22 Oct 1970 [22 Oct 969] 50322/70 Heading D1E A jet loom has positioned between the jet nozzle 1 and the shed a block 8 with a first suction passage 10a therethrough and a second weft guide passage 9, which block is vertically reciprocable between a first position (Fig. 3, not shown) in which the suction passage is positioned in front of the nozzle 1 to receive the end of the weft inserted from the opposite side of the loom and a second position, Fig. 2, in which the weft guide passage 9 is aligned with the nozzle 1 for weft insertion. The suction passage 10a communicates with sides 8a and 8b of the block 8 by a slot 11 in which trailing weft ends are held for a number of previous picks (Fig. 1, not shown). The passage 10a also communicates with a suction duct 13 having a slot (18) in its side provided with a guard 19 to hold the weft ends clear of the weaving zone, and to enable them to be cut by cutters 21. The passage 9 has a slot 12 communicating with a wall 8c of the block 8 and contiguous with a similar slot 1a in the nozzle 1 to allow hairpins of weft to be inserted. A weft stop motion is provided consisting of a light source (22), Fig. 4, (not, shown) directed down a bore 25 in the block 8 to the slot 11, light being reflected off the bottom of the slot 11 or the weft itself up a second bore 26 to a light sensitive resistance (23). Light may be conducted from the bore 26 to the light sensitive resistance by an optical fibre.
