Abstract

1333477 Parachute R F D-G Q Ltd 26 July 1972 [18 May 1971] 15410/71 Heading B7G A parachute assembly comprises a canopy (25), Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), connected by rigging lines 26 to a harness 38 adapted to be attached to a load, such as a parachutist, and means for stabilizing the load, such means being connected to the harness at at least two points and being deployed at the same time as the canopy. The stabilizer consists of a drogue 24 connected to the harness 38 by straps 36, 37 and vanes 33, an apron 35 being provided between the straps and the vanes. The straps carry aprons 22, 23 which are folded around risers 18-21 connecting the rigging lines to the harness and are retained by 'Velcro' (Registered Trade Mark) fasteners until the pull on the drogue and/or the canopy (25) is sufficient to open them. The straps carry angled lugs 31, Fig. 9, which slip over the tongues of lugs 29 to which the risers are attached and which are held in release boxes on the harness 38 until release tabs 28 are pulled.
