Abstract

1333468 Valves C BURKERT 19 April 1971 [21 March 1970] 26507/71 Heading F2V A multi-way piston valve has transverse ports communicating with a bore in the valve body 1, e.g. for controlling the supply and exhaust of pressure medium from an inlet P to work ports A, B and from these ports to exhaust ports R, S. A number of plastics material rings 2 aligned in the bore are provided at their end faces with axially extending teeth 18 for engagement of the rings with one another. A valve piston 10 slidable in a bore formed by the rings, has axially spaced bands each forming a control edge and carrying an annular sealing element 12 disposed in a circumferential groove. The rings provide passages 21 communicating with the ports and, through the spaces between the teeth, with the valve chamber. The rings are aligned by a tooth engaging in a slot 20. The pressure has access to the back of the sealing elements through passages 11, 14 in the valve piston. The joints between the rings are sealed by 0-rings 3. Actuating pressure is applied to opposite ends through ports 6, 8. The valve piston may also be of plastics material.
