Abstract
1333144 Metal dispersoid powder compositions SHERRITT GORDON MINES Ltd 7 Jan 1971 [27 Jan 1970] 905/71 Heading C7D A finely divided, compactible and non- pyrophoric powder composition suitable for powder metallurgical preparation of high temperature resistant wrought metal and metal alloy products comprises plate like metallic host particles formed of nickel, cobalt, iron or an alloy based on at least one of these metals, the platelets having a thickness less than 1 micron and a width at least 5 times the thickness, said host particles having fixed in the planar surfaces thereof from 0À001 to 0À10 volume fraction of refractory dispersoid particles having a mean particle radius between 1 and 20 milli-microns. Equi-axed metal or metal alloy particles in the size range 0À2 to 5 microns are milled with the dispersoid to produce the platelets. The dispersoid may comprise the refractory oxides or borides, nitrides or carbides. Specified oxides are those of Th, Y, Mg, Ca, Zr, Si, U, La, Be, Al, Hf, Ce, Ti. Said alloy may be formed with Cr, Mo, W, Be, Mg, Mn, Nb, Ta, Ti, V or Zr.
