Abstract

1332856 Porcupine roller heads CHUBU SEIKO KK and M SHINO 11 May 1971 [14 May 1970] 14293/71 Heading DID [Also in Division F2] A porcupine roller head comprises upper and lower sets 18, 19 of rollers having needle carrying plates 3, 4 arranged thereon the stands carrying the sets of rollers are pivoted together at one end, and the rollers have gears, preferably helical gears 18a-c, 19a-c (Fig. 5 not shown) at one end. The needles can be arranged in parallel or offset rows axially of the rollers. The needles are preferably oval in cross section and pointed at their ends. A spring-loaded mounting for the rollers may incorporate an electric stop motion (Fig. 10 not shown) which stops the machine upon excessive movement of the porcupine rollers. A safety pin (9) may hold the pivoted stands open for cleaning, (Fig. 9 not shown).
