<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Jedem Verkehrsmittel (Eisenbahnzug, Schiff usw.

Device for monitoring the temporal course of processes in particular
Operations.
EMI1.1
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
If one process can be followed by the other without a break, the strips must also be lined up without any space between them.
In practice, disruptions and changes that suddenly become necessary in the handling of events or activities must be expected. The strips are therefore advantageously accommodated along the lines in grooves, channels or pockets in such a way that they can be easily exchanged and moved.
A pointer device e (see FIG. 1) is arranged along the surface, movable relative to it, by means of which a specific point in time to be read on the time scale is set and transferred to the lines.
The relative movement between the surface and the pointer device can either be effected by hand, advantageously also by a clockwork, in such a way that either the surface in front of the stationary pointer device or this is moved past the stationary surface, u. with such a relative speed that the pointer device on the scale shows the correct time on a case-by-case basis or at every moment.
In Fig. 1, the pointer device e bears the corresponding inscriptions, from which it should be evident which places, people or objects the lines are assigned in the above sense. In FIG. 2, an exemplary embodiment is given in which the surface used for receiving the strips
EMI2.1
Turned channels k, the design of which is shown in FIG. In front of the rotating drum a pointer device e in the form of a rake or comb is arranged at a small distance from its circumference, the teeth m of which slide resiliently or cushioned in the above-mentioned grooves.
The drum circumference is conductively connected to one pole, the teeth of the pointer device to the other pole of a power source. In the circuit is an electrical signal device, e.g. B. switched on a bell or a lightbulb.
In this case, the strips are made of a material that does not conduct electricity.
The circuit is therefore interrupted as long as all the teeth of the pointer device slide on the strip. It is closed when a tooth comes into contact with the drum surface. In this case, the signaling device is activated. This device has the effect that every time one of the teeth has passed the end of a strip, the signal is given, thereby alerting the central office that an incident or an activity, assuming a planned course, must be ended at the same moment.
Instead of the cylindrical drum used in FIG. 2, in order to take account of given space conditions, an endless belt o guided over rollers m can be used with otherwise the same device, as indicated in FIG.
A fixed plane or a table curved according to a general cylindrical surface can also be used to accommodate the strips, along which a pointer device is moved by a clockwork. This results in an arrangement similar to that shown in FIG. 1.
Among the many possible applications of the invention, the following should be emphasized:
You can z. B. can be used to regulate and monitor the activities of several people from a central point. In this case, each person is assigned a line and the activities to be set up by him are represented by the stripes and their duration by the length of the stripes.
A second possible application is in companies where different work has to be distributed to the existing workplaces according to certain criteria and where the course over time has to be monitored. In this case, a line is then appropriately assigned to each workstation, while the work is symbolized by the strips and their duration by the length of the strips.
An example of a third application is the following: To determine and monitor the progress of work on several individual or related objects, each object or group of objects is assigned a line, while the work to be carried out on the objects is again indicated by the strips and their duration by the length the stripes are shown.
Mention should also be made of the possibility of using the invention in railway and shipping companies for regulating and monitoring traffic from a central point.
Each mode of transport (train, ship, etc.) is assigned a line, while the routes are represented by stripes and the duration of the journey and stops by the length of the stripes.
In a similar way, the invention can also be used for army purposes for regulating and monitoring the transports and movements of troop units, etc.
Finally, if they are adapted to the respective purpose, the facility can be used in banks, bureaus and offices to monitor and establish appointments.
