Abstract

1332447 Incontinence device L W DONALDSON 19 April 1972 [4 May 1971] 18137/ 72 Heading A5R A male incontinence device, Fig. 1, comprises a condom 10 which is rolled on the penis of the patient, a connector assembly 22 by means of which the condom is adapted to discharge urine into a urine bag 18, and an annular member 12 which retains the condom on the penis of the patient. The connector assembly 22 comprises a sleeve 40, Fig. 5, and a hollow plug 42 and is fitted to a condom to provide a fluid outlet from the end thereof by trapping the condom between the plug and the sleeve and then rupturing the condom by introducing a needle through the passage 44 in the plug. The condom is then rolled onto the patient's penis, and the annular member 12 is slid on top of the condom. The rolled up end portion of the condom is then lifted over the outer peripheral edge of the annular member and is released so that is elastically contracts and abuts the integral studs 14 which are formed on a frontal face of the annular member directed away from the patient and are spaced inwardly from said outer peripheral edge. A belt 16 holds the annular member against the patient's body. The annular member may be injection moulded from plastics material and may be dished, the studs 14 being formed on the concave surface of the member.
