Abstract

1331742 Trays; shrink wrapped packages STAG PLASTICS Ltd 30 Sept 1970 [6 Sept 1969] 44191/69 Headings B8C and B8P A packaging tray 17 or 18 for a number of containers 10 comprises a sheet of polyvinylchloride vacuum formed to include a plurality of locating formations each of which comprises a stepped groove 21 and a projecting portion having a flat central portion 26 and which forms a corresponding depression in the opposite surface of the tray. Strengthening corrugations (31, Fig. 2) are formed between adjacent locating formations. A tray 18 of six containers 10 can be stacked on another tray 17 of six containers 10, the bottoms of the containers being supported in the flat portion 26 and located by concave walls 25 and the tops, i.e. the lids 14, of the containers being laterally supported by outer walls of portions 23 of the grooves 21. The two tiers of containers are shrink wrapped with a thin transparent plastics film.
