Abstract

1331584 Making television tube frames MERCURY AIRCRAFT Inc 2 Feb 1972 [26 April 1971] 4905/72 Heading B3A A method of making metallic frames for television tubes comprises cutting a plurality of generally chevron-shaped pieces 10 from a metal sheet 11, welding pairs of the pieces together to form generally rectangular frames 15 and bending the outer peripheral region of each frame into a flange 14 substantially perpendicular to the plane of the frame. The chevron-shaped pieces may have rounded corners and straight edges or straight inner edges and rounded outer edges, Figs. 5, 8 (not shown). The inner edge of the frame is formed with bevels (16), Fig. 4 (not shown) as the flanges are bent. In addition the frames may be stretched to a uniform size and shape or they may be formed into a dished shape.
