Abstract

1331391 Removing deposits FOSTER WHEELER CORP 21 June 1971 [19 June 1970] 29028/71 Heading F4B A slag deposit removal system for use in a boiler furnace comprises at least one nozzle mounted adjacent the heat absorption surface, the or each nozzle having at least two outlets and means for delivering different fluids to each of two nozzles. A nozzle 22, Fig. 2, has an outlet 50 supplied with steam through the nozzle body 40 and an outlet 52 supplied with water through a pipe 46 passing through the nozzle. The nozzles 22 are periodically advanced and retracted and continuously rotated by a control system so that any slag build up is removed by the impact of the jets of steam and water.
