Abstract
1331157 Endless conveyers HERMANN BERSTORFF MASCHINENBAU GmbH 20 Sept 1971 [5 Oct 1970] 43665/71 Heading B8A [Also in Division B5] Extruded strips of raw material for aircraft tyres are longitudinally compressed by conveying the material on rolls 1 whose spacing is progressively reduced in the direction of travel of the strip, i.e. to the right in the figure. Each roll 1 has at each end a roller 3 which is guided in a stationary track 4. Adjacent rolls 1 are connected by links 9, 10 with rollers 8 which run in the tracks 6 mounted on side plates 7. These plates are pivotable about a shaft 13 which also carries a pair of driven pulleys 11 engageable by the rollers 8. In operation, as the rolls 1 move along the upper portion of their endlesss run the plates 7 are swung clockwise, the rollers 8 and the links 9, 10 are raised and the rolls 1 at the input end of the apparatus become more widely spaced than at the discharge end. Since the strip is soft, longitudinal compression takes place in its direction of motion. Sliding blocks may replace the rollers 3.
