1331081 Domestic water storage tanks TAREKDALE Ltd 19 April 1971 [28 May 1970] 25794/70 Heading E1T [Also in Division F4] A combined hot and cold water unit for a dwelling comprises a hot water cistern 2 of glass-fibre reinforced plastics or copper and a cold water cistern 1 of plastics which are jointly housed in a casing 3, the space between the two cisterns and the spaces between the cisterns and the. casing being provided with a heat-insulating material 10 which is also disposed beneath the hot water cistern 2. The cistern 1 and the casing 3 are made of polyethylene or polypropylene and the material 10 is preferably of foamed polyurethane. The outer casing together with a cold water feed cistern 1 and a cold water storage cistern may be moulded in one-piece casing adapted to receive the hot water cistern which is separately made and rests on the base of the one-piece casing through the interposition of an asbestos or cork pad, see Figs. 10 and 11 (not shown). Heat transfer between the hot-water cistern and the bore of the outer casing 3 is avoided by using a brass boss passing through an enlarged hole in the base, see Fig. 12 (not shown). In an arrangement involving two cold water cisterns they may be separated by a single partition wall which may be in the form of a weir and braced to prevent distortion, see Fig. 13 (not shown).
