Abstract
1330514 Track apparatus; testing automatic couplings GERMANY MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT 4 Sept 1970 42518/70 Headings B7N and B7T In an arrangement for testing automatic couplings, a first rail vehicle 2 runs into and couples with a stationary unbraked vehicle 1 which on moving forwards operates a wheel switch 10 whereby its brakes are rapidly applied so that the coupling can be checked at point P. Compressed air to hold off the brakes of vehicle 1 is provided by compressor 16 via reducing valve 15, regulator 14, gauge 13, solenoid valve 12 and flexible brake hose 9. On operation of the wheel switch, solenoid valve 12 acts to release the pressure to atmosphere. The vehicle 2 is drawn up the hump by coupling vehicle 3 connected to winch 4 and is automatically released from the coupling vehicle during its run down the slope.
