Abstract
1330494 Vehicle undercarriages MLWWORTHINGTON Ltd 19 April 1971 [13 Jan 1970] 1650/70 Headings B7D and B7L A truck assembly for a rail or road vehicle has a pair of motorized axles, a frame 10, and a centre post structure 20 having a post 22, a lower bearing section 24 adjacent the free end 28 of the post, and an upper bearing section 30, resilient pads 32, 34 being positioned between the bearing surfaces 42, 44 on the post structure, and 46, 48 on the frame, and pads 36, 38 being positioned between the bearing surface 52 on the frame and 54 on the post structure. The pads 32, 34, 36, 38 are positioned symmetrically about the central longitudinal and transverse vertical planes of the truck, and the longitudinal axes of the pads 32, 34 intersect at a point (68), Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), which lies in both the central longitudinal and transverse vertical planes of the truck at approximately the level of rails on which the truck rolls. Pivoting of the truck with respect to the locomotive body may occur about horizontal and vertical axes passing through the point (68). Instead of being mounted directly on the underside of a locomotive body, truck assemblies may be mounted in tandem on a bolster (100), Fig. 7 (not shown).
