Abstract

1329684 Liquid level indication AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO Ltd 15 Oct 1971 [25 Jan 1971] 3088/71 Heading G1H [Also in Division H1] The float 24 of a float operated switch is divided into two segments 25 so that the segments pass either side of a partition dividing the liquid reservoir 11 into two sections, the float being designed so as not to be supported by liquid in one section of the reservoir only. The switch is mounted within the reservoir filler cup, Fig. 1, and comprises contacts 21 and a bridging contact 28 connected by a rod 27 to the float 24. The contact chamber is closed by a 'snap fit' cap 29 which carries a breather hole 34, further holes 33 being provided in the base of the chamber. The float and reservoir may be arranged with several segments and partitions respectively to allow several sections of the reservoir to independently operate the switch. Such a float operated switch may be used in the reservoir of dual braking systems in vehicles to actuate a warning device upon loss of liquid from a reservoir section.
