Abstract

1329269 Electro-physical measurement LOHMANN and STOLTERFOHT A G 20 Oct 1970 49786/70 Heading G1N The penetration of sea-water into a watercooled lubricating system for gears of ships propulsion units, is detected by a temperature variable resistor in the bottom of the oil tank. A constant voltage is applied to the resistor and the difference in cooling by the oil or seawater causes a variation in current. Modifications:- (i) a pair of T.V.R's, one either side in the bottom of the tank may be used when the ship is heeled; (ii) a further T.V.R. may be added at the top of the tank to detect low oil level.
