Abstract
1329247 Shrink and soil proofing I W S NOMINEE CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [24 Nov 1969] 57449/69 Heading D1P Wool and other protein fibres including blends thereof with polyamides, polyesters, polyacrylonitrile or cellulosic fibres, are rendered shrink proof and soil resistant by treatment with a shrink-resist resin and a condensate of terephthalic acid and an alkylene oxide as soil release agent. Specified resins are copolymers of ethylene, vinyllacetate and methacrylylchloride, a prepolymer containing free isocyanate groups formed from a polyhydroxy compound, an alkylene oxide and a polyisocyanate, polyamide/epoxide resin, resin formed by catalytic oxidation of an unsaturated fatty acid ester, a carboxylated polybutadiene, a thiol resin, a polyacrylate or a condensation product of trimethylene diamine, epichlorhydrin and adipic which may contain a dimethyl sulphate stabiliser. The wool is usually partially chlorinated with acid/hypochlorite prior to treatment with the latter condensation products. The soil resist and shrink resist agents may be applied separately or together in solution.
