1329082 Cutting tools METRO-CUTANIT Ltd 17 Sept 1970 [17 June 1969] 30654/69 Heading B3T A cutting tool of the kind in which a replaceable insert 3 is located in a recess 11 in a tool holder 1 and is clamped by a pin engaging a bore in the insert, urging it into clamping engagement with the base and shoulder of the recess, is provided with a wedge member 31 which has a projection 37 which overlies a part of the insert 3 to hold the insert against the base 5 of the recess when the wedge is clamped between the side 35 of the insert and the shoulder 39 as the tipis moved into a clamped position by the action of the pin 27. The pin 27 is rotatably mounted in a bore 21 in a sleeve 17 rotably mounted in a bore 13 in the tool holder 1. The axes of the pin and sleeve may be parallel so that rotation of the sleeve causes eccentric movement of the pin to effect clamping of the insert, alternatively the pin axis may be at an acute angle to the sleeve axis. A wedge may be provided between two adjacent sides of the insert.
