Abstract

1328804 Mechanical switches JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 2 Dec 1970 [18 Dec 1969] 61644/69 Heading H1N A contact member 16, slidably engaging fixed contact studs 14, has two oppositely inclined rows of inclined sloping faces 21, each row being engageable by one of two projections 26, 27 on push buttons 24, 25. Depression of one push button 25 thus causes movement of the member in an upward direction while depression of the other 24, causes movement downwards. The contact member also has a spring loaded ball locating arrangement which, after the first movement in either direction, tends to move the member an additional distance, after the pushbutton has been released, this being sufficient to permit the projection 26, 27 to engage the second inclined surface on a second depression and thus determine three operative positions for the slidable contact member.
