Endless-band conveyers, articles carried by.- Sheet-metal plates are delivered from a printing- machine to endless bands which feed them into a heated chamber through which they are carried by endless chains, the links of which are provided with frames or supports. Fig. 3 shows in a vertical section the two ends of the apparatus. The plates P are fed into the chamber 1 by bands 90, 91 and are engaged by carriers 71 mounted on the links of endless chains running on chain-wheels mounted on axles 7, 8, the axle 8 being adjustable to regulate the tension of the chains. The plates are carried forward by the chains, and near the end are raised by guides 57 and dropped on to inner chains C. The links of the chains C carry gripping plates which close on the lower edges of the plates as the links turn round their chain wheels. As the chains reach their lower position, the gripping plates open and the plates fall on to lower chains B, driven from the upper chain, and are carried back to the feed end of the chamber, where they are discharged.
