1327261 Bucket wheel trenchers W E PEARCE 14 Oct 1971 [24 July 1970] 35936/70 Heading E1F In a trench excavator each of the excavating elements 5, 6 mounted around the periphery of the digger wheel of the excavator has a web portion disposed substantially parallel to the median plane of the wheel and a flange portion projecting from the web portion. One or two members is or are located in the path(s) of the elements to remove soil from the elements as they the member(s). The elements 5, 6 may be of L or T shape. Each member may be a bar 25, preferably chamfered at its forward end, secured to the wheel-supporting frame of the excavator to lie along a chord of the path of the elements from which it removes soil adhering to the elements.
