Abstract
1326847 Gynaecological devices RHONEPOULENC SA 25 Oct 1971 [27 Oct 1970] 49480/71 Heading A5R A gynaecological surgical device to avoid the Fallopian tube becoming blocked again during cicatrisation following a tuboplasty operation, comprises a hollow cone 6 of flexible sheet material closed at its apex and a cord 8, 9 firmly fixed to the apex of the cone. The cord, which may be of polyamide, extends to substantially equal lengths of between 200 and 600 mm on either side of the apex 7 of the cone. The portion 8 of the cord may have a larger cross-section than the portion 9 of the cord, the cross-section of the portion 8 being of a similar size to the cross-section of the cone when folded upon itself during withdrawal. The cord portion 8 may be sheathed with a catheter (20), Figure 5 (not shown), having lateral orifices (21), (22) adjacent the apex 7, or alternatively. the cord portion 8 itself may take the form of a catheter, the cord portion 8 being hollow and provided with lateral orifices adjacent the apex 7, the catheter facilitating the introduction of medicaments during cicatrisation. The cord may extend on one side only of the apex of the cone, Figure 1 (not shown). The cone 6 and catheter (20) are of organosilicon elastomer. The cone can alternatively be produced from a textile material, for example, a polyethylene terephthalate fabric which is coated with organopolysiloxane elastomer. The device may be provided with a mark which is opaque to X-rays.
