Abstract
1326793 Spinning and finishing yarns EASTMAN KODAK CO 31 July 1970 [31 July 1969] 37098/70 Headings D1F and D1W Spun yarn comprises 50-100% by weight of polyethylene terephthalate fibres, e.g. blended with cotton, has an elongation at break of not more than 26.6%, an initial modulus of at least 45 grams/denier per 100% elongation and a breaking tenacity of at least 1.3 grams/denier. In one method of production, an untreated spun yarn of the fibres is passed through a jet of inert gas, having a temperature of 240-260C, under a tension of 0.08-0.44 grams/denier at a rate of 100-700 feet/minute. In another method, such spun yarn is passed around a roll, which is at a temperature of 175-195C, under a tension of 0.08-0.44 grams/denier at a rate of 300-500 feet/minute.
