Abstract
1326092 Conductor arrangements BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDERS CONSTRUCTION CO Ltd 5 May 1971 [6 May 1970] 21815/70 Heading B7L [Also in Division H2] A support for the wires of an overhead current supply system of an electric railway comprises a bracket 2 secured to the wall of a tunnel 3 by screws 5, an inclined strut 11 secured at one end to the bracket 2 by a further bracket 8 a clevis 9 and an eyebolt 12, a fibre glass beam 16 secured to a fitting 15 on one end of the strut 11, and a fitting 18 to secure a catenary wire 19 to the beam. The connections between the bracket 2 and the strut and between the strut and the beam both inhibit rotation about a horizontal axis but the connection between the bracket 2 and the strut permits rotation about a vertical axis. The catenary wire 19 supports a contact wire 26 by means of droppers and the contact wire is steadied by two fibreglass arms 20 with eye fittings 22 pivoted on opposite sides of the fitting 15. The strut 11 is of galvanized steel and is earthed and its angle of inclination may be adjusted by a pair of nuts on the eyebolt 12. Fig. 3, not shown, depicts an embodiment with no steady arms 20 in which both the catenary wire and the contact wire are supported by the beam 16. Examples are given of materials resistant to tracking with which the fibreglass components and their fittings are coated.
