Abstract

1325801 Making commulators FRANKLIN & FREEMAN (LONDON) Ltd 24 March 1972 [15 March 1971] 6895/71 Heading B3A [Also in Division H2] The risers 15 of a commulator are adapted to form hooks or tongs, round which the rotor winding may be looped, by driving a cylindrical cutting tool axially into the shoulder formed by the risers so that they are undercut and forced upwardly, the insulation between them being broken away during such movement. Final shaping to the form shown is effected by a forming tool and die. After the rotor winding has been applied the hooks are pressed down and welded to the main parts of their commulator segments.
