Abstract

1325487 Spectrally sensitized photographic silverdye-bleach material FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 20 Aug 1970 [20 Aug 1969] 40194/70 Heading G2C A light-sensitive silver halide emulsion contains a dye which is bleached out in the silver dye-bleach process and at least one sensitizing dye of the formula:- wherein R 1 is alkyl, substituted alkyl or aryl; R 2 and R 3 each represent H, alkyl, substituted alkyl or aryl; R 4 is H, alkyl or aryl; Z is the non- metallic atoms necessary to complete a heterocyclic nucleus which may be substituted having a 5- or 6- membered heterocyclic ring; d is O, 1 or 2 and n is 1 or 2. The emulsion may also contain a supersensitizing compound of one of the formulae: wherein Y is CH or N; R 5 , R 6 , R 7 and R 8 are the same or different and each is H, OH, alkoxyl, aryloxyl, substituted aryloxyl, halogen, a heterocyclic nucleus, alkylthio, heterocyclylthio, arylthio, amino, alkylamino, substituted alkylamino, arylamino, substituted arylamino, heterocyclylamino or aryl; and A is one of the radicals A 1 or A 2 , at least one of R 5 , R 6 , R 7 and R 8 being a substituent containing -SO 3 M when A is A 2 and M is an alkali or alkaline earth metal atom; A 1 is and A 2 is p, p'-diphenylene, m-or p-phenylene, p, p'- phenoxyphenylene p, p'- benzylphenylene, or 1, 5-napthylene; R 9 is acylamino or sulpho; R 10 is acylamino; and R 11 is H or sulpho, said compound having at least one sulpho group. The emulsion may contain in supersensitizing amount a supersensitizing formalin condensate which is a Novolak-type condensate of a hydroxybenzene and formaldehyde.
