Abstract
1325412 Foundry cores UNITED AIRCRAFT CORP 21 March 1972 [29 June 1971] 13178/72 Heading B3F [Also in Division C1] A water-soluble MgO core for use in investmeat casting is formed by mixing an aqueous solution of MgCl 2 with MgO powder which is poured into a die and left to harden before firing to oxidize the MgCl 2 to MgO. The core may be coated with zirconia particles having an average size less than 100 Á. After casting, the core is removed with steam or with hot water in an autoclave.
