1325327 Grinding VITEBSKOE SPETSIALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO ZUBOOBRABATYVAJUSCHIKH SHLIFOVALNYKH I ZATOCHNYKH STANKOV 25 Sept 1970 45789/70 Heading B3D A hob sharpening machine comprises an indexing stock 2 and tailstock 3 mounted on a bed 1 and having centres for rotatably mounting a hob 4 to be sharpened, a carriage 6 movable along guides 5, 5a parallel to the axis between the centres, a kinematic link between the spindle of the indexing stock and a mechanism 24 for converting linear motion of the carriage into rotary motion of the indexing stock spindle and comprising a rack 26 on the carriage meshing with a gear 27 on the input shaft of a bevel gear arrangement connected through a differential 35 to an adjustable ratio gear mechanism 44 ... 48, the terminal gear of which meshes with a gear 49 on the indexing stock spindle. The carriage is movable along the guides 5, 5a by an hydraulic cylinder 7 and has inclined guides 8 along which a head 9 is adjustable by an electric motor 17 driving through a worm-wheel arrangement 18 a nut on a screw 19. The head carries a grinding wheel 17 which is driven by a belt 16 from an electric motor 15. The grinding wheel is adjustable to the helix angle of the hole. Wear on the wheel is compensated by a screw 22 driven by a worm and wheel 21 from an hydraulic motor 20. The rack 26 on the carriage meshes with the gear 27 on the input shaft of a clutch having bevel gears 30, 31 selectively engageable with a bevel gear 32 according to whether the hole has a left or right hand helix. The shaft of the gear 32 is connected to gear 36 of a differential gear unit 36 ... 39 in a casing 35, the gear 39 being connected to change gearing 44 ... 48 connected to the gear 49 on the spindle 25. The casing 35 is formed with a worm-wheel 40 meshing with a worm 41, one end of which is connected to an hydraulic stepping motor 42, which is actuated to provide the feed of the grinding wheel, and the other end of which is connected to an hydraulic cylinder 43 for taking up clearances in the mechanism 24. The gear 49 is connected to the spindle 25 through an indexing plate 50, the spindle being rotated during indexing by an hydraulic motor 51. The grinding wheel is dressed by a mechanism 52.
