Abstract

1325258 Converter handling vehicle VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISEN-UND STAHLWERKE AG 19 April 1971 [14 Oct 1970] 25023/71 Heading B8H [Also in Division B7] A converter handling vehicle for mounting and dismounting a converter T in a converter stand and for transporting the converter comprises a liftable and lowerable, ground supportable converter bearing structure 31 arranged in a lifting and travelling mechanism adapted to be rotated around a vertical axis when the bearing structure is in its ground-supported position so as to effect transposition of the vehicle from one track to another at track intersections, the lifting and travelling mechanism being provided with bogie trucks 1-4 and comprising at least two levers pivoted on a common horizontal pin to form at least one pair of X-shaped shears, each lever being articulately connected at one end to a respective one of the bogie trucks and at the other end to the bearing structure 31, adjusting means being provided to open and close the shears and thus to lift and lower the bearing structure and to lift and lower the bogie trucks relative to the ground respectively. In the preferred embodiment four levers 9-12 are provided which form two pairs of shears; the levers being connected to the bearing structure 31 by means of guiding levers 24, 23, 26, 25, each of the levers 9, 11 and 10, 12 comprising two parallel spaced parts 82, 83 and 84, 85 respectively with the vertical plane of symmetry through each pair of shears coinciding with the vertical plane of symmetry through the associated bogie trucks. The adjustment means 32-35, comprising hydraulic cylinders 36-39 with piston rods 40-43, are connected via links 52, 53, 54, 53a to the levers of the shears as shown in Fig. 1 to open and close the shears and are arranged between the parallel spaced parts of the levers as shown in Fig. 3. The converter bearing structure 31 is rotatably connected to the lifting and travelling mechanism by a rotary connection 69, e.g. a ball bearing, and is provided on its lower side with a supporting plate 70, rotation of the bearing structure being effected by means of a gear annulus 81 secured to the supporting plate which meshes with a pinion 80 of a driving means 79 mounted on the bearing structure. Angular transposition of the vehicle from one track to another is effected by actuating the cylinders 36-39 so that the shears are opened until the supporting plate 70 engages the ground 90; by further opening of the shears the bogie trucks 1-4 are lifted clear of the rails 91 on which the vehicle is situated. The pinion 80 is then caused to roll around the gear annulus 81 and the vehicle thus rotated around its vertical axis, after which the shears are closed and the vehicle lowered to the ground where it engages another set of rails. The normal travelling position of the vehicle is illustrated in Fig. 2 (not shown).
