Abstract

1344693 Wagons for transporting special loads; undercarriages DEMAG AG 7 May 1971 [15 May 1970] 13645/71 Heading B7L A rail vehicle, particularly for steel converter vessels 1, has a chassis 2 with wheels 3 and a support frame 10 rotatably mounted on the chassis, piston and cylinder jock units 6-9 being secured in a housing 5 secured to the frame 10. A rotary drive mechanism 15-18 is provided so that when the vehicle is supported on its wheels the drive mechanism can rotate the frame 10 and the vessel 1, and when the jack units are extended to support the vehicle in a raised position the drive means can rotate the chassis to align the wheels with a different set of rails at a track crossing. The rotary mounting 11 of the frame on the chassis consists of an outer bearing ring 12 fast with the chassis and an inner bearing ring 13 fast with the frame, with two rows of roller bearing units 14 between them. The rotary drive mechanism consists of a ring of teeth 15 on the frame 10 which mesh with those of a gear wheel 16 which is driven by a gear 17 operated by a motor 18.
