Abstract

1351147 Mobile luffing arm apparatus SKAGIT CORP 9 Sept 1971 [30 Sept 1970] 42024/71 Heading B8H A lift truck comprises a wheeled chassis 10, a carriage 22 mounted for lifting a load at the front of said chassis 10 and being movable in a vertical plane by means of a lift arm 20 pivotally mounted on a mast 18 and rotatable under the action of a ram 48, the carriage 22 being rotatable in a horizontal plane through approximately 90 degrees relative to the arm 20 by means of a ram 36 connected between the carriage 22 and a member 38 about which horizontal rotation of the carriage takes place. The carriage 22 is maintained in a desired orientation during raising movement of the arm 20 by means of a link, 30 pivotally connected both to the member 38 and to a ram 32 via a lever 28, the ram 32 effecting pivotal movement of the carriage 22 about a pivot point 58. After the carriage 22 has been lifted and rotated through approximately 90 degrees it is lowered to rest on stanchions 54, 56 whose tops are above the top of the operator's cab 16. The chassis 10 is driven by means of an engine 60 coupled with the front wheels 12.
