Abstract

1324813 Mudguards P E KETTLER 30 July 1970 [30 July 1969] 37027/70 Heading B7J An attachment member 1 carrying a mudguard 13 and any attachments thereto, especially for tractors and traction engines, is produced from an alloyed steel, and more especially a high-alloy steel, and is connectible with a bearing plate 6 of a wheel axle 2 or with further attachments by means of a coupling member 3. The coupling member 3 comprises flanges 3a securable to the bearing plate 6 by means of screws 12 via an intermediate plate 7 which is preferably made of resilient material such as indiarubber or synthetic plastics, a central region 4 with an internal conical surface 4a engaging an external conical surface 1b of an end la of the attachment member 1, and an upper collar 4b above which the external conical surface 1b extends. The external conical surface 1b is formed by upsetting the steel and a burr 5 thus formed on the attachment member 1 adjacent the intermediate plate 7 assists in producing a good fit. The upper part of the attachment member 1 has a projection 8, also formed by upsetting, which engages a bearing 10 of a connecting plate 9 which is secured to an attachemnt plate 15 through the mudguard 13 by means of screws 14. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3, a connecting plate 9a is provided which, after the attachment plate 15 and attachment member 1 have been secured together, is supported by one end 9b against the vertical region 1d of the attachment member 1 and by the other end 9c against a boundary abutment 11 on an upper attachment region 1c of the attachment member 1.
