Abstract

1324551 Derivative of diaminophenyl urea IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 12 Jan 1971 [20 Jan 1970] 2729/70 Heading C2C [Also in Division C4] 4,4<SP>1</SP> - Diaminodiphenylurea 2,2<SP>1</SP>,5,5<SP>1</SP> - tetrasulphonic acid and 3,3<SP>1</SP>-diaminodiphenylurea 4,4<SP>1</SP>,6,6<SP>1</SP>-tetrasulphonic acid are used as intermediates in the preparation of fibre reactive dyes. The ureas may be prepared by reacting the corresponding diaminobenzene disulphonic acid with acetic anhydride to form a monoacetyl compound, reacting this compound with phosgene and reducing the acetyl group in the product with sodium hydroxide. The compounds may also be prepared by reacting the diaminobenzenedisulphonic acid directly with phosgene.
