Abstract
1324382 Seaming DATCON INSTRUMENT CO 20 Oct 1970 [14 Jan 1970] 49817/70 Heading B5K [Also in Divisions G1 and G3] The framework for the movement of an elapsed time indicator is formed by ultrasonically welding a plastics plate 38 to a similar plate 36 which is provided with integral pillars 45. The plates 36, 38 are made of nylon loaded with molybdenum disulphide so that bearing apertures formed in the plates may be selflubricating. After the shafts of the movement have been inserted in their respective apertures, spacer blocks 106 are inserted between the plates. The end of an ultrasonic horn is brought against bosses 47 on the plate 38, whereupon the ultrasonic energy causes melting of dimples 46. The plates are brought together to the desired spacing and the plastics allowed to harden.
