Abstract

1324299 Filter bag support A SCHEWITZ 3 Sept 1971 [16 Sept 1970] 41267/71 Heading B1D An internal support for an inward-flow filter bag (10) comprises an extruded plastics body 1 presenting radial, angularly spaced ribs 3, end rings 5, 8 and possibly intermediate rings also of plastics, the upper ring having an outer flange 7. A plurality of such supports with respective bags (10) are accommodated in a common housing (Fig. 3, not shown), the bodies 1 projecting down through respective apertures in a tube plate (15) with flanges 7 located above the plate. A perforate clamping plate (21) is urged towards plate 15 by a central threaded member (22) and bears on all the flanges 7. The housing is made in several sections secured together by external bolts (24). When used to filter swimming pool water, the bags (10) are given coats of diatomaceous earth, and the pressure forms inwardly directed pleats in the bags between ribs 3. On reversing the flow to clean them to bags bulge outwards which breaks up the coats.
