Abstract

1324142 Cam followers GENERAL MOTORS (FRANCE) 16 March 1972 [18 March 1971] 7188/71 Heading F2K An I.C. engine diaphragm fuel pump rocker arm 1 is moulded of plastics, the rocker arm being bifurcated at one end 6, for engagement with a diaphragm pump push rod 7, and recessed at the other end 8 for a metal pin 10 the head of which is engaged by a push rod 11 operated by an engine driven rotary cam 12, a return spring 15, seated in the pump housing (not shown), engaging in a recess (not shown) formed in the lever arm 3 around the end of the recess 8, or alternatively around an extended shank 9 of the pin 10. The rocker arm 1 is mounted in the body of the pump by a pivot pin 13 which may be journalled in a transverse bore 5 formed directly in the plastics boss 4 or alternatively formed in a metal core insert moulded therein. Moulded integral stiffening webs 14 increase the rigidity of the arm 1.
