Abstract

1324132 Heat - exchanger elements GRANGES ESSEM AB 19 April 1971 [5 Feb 1970] 20850/71 Heading B3A A tubular starting blank of indeterminate length for use in the making of a heat-exchange element comprises a thin-walled flat section metal tube 10 and a corrugated metal foil 11 secured to one of the faces of the tube by metallic bonding, the foil having a thickness in the range 50-10 micrometres, e.g. 25 micrometres. The tube wall has a thickness of between 0À2 and 0À05 mm. The tube may be of copper or a copperzinc alloy. The foil may be of high grade copper alloy and it is soldered to the tube. Alternatively it may comprise other metals of good conductivity, e.g. aluminium or iron. The foil may be attached in a series of short length (e.g. 15, 16, 17, Fig. 3), the tube being sawn through between the foil lengths to provide the heatexchanger elements.
