1323991 I.C. engine valve gear MOTOMAK MOTORENBAU MASCHINEN-UND WERKZEUGFABRIK KONSTRUKTIONEN GmbH 4 Jan 1971 [10 Jan 1970] 354/71 Heading F1B A hydraulic self adjusting push rod assembly has an inner part 3 rigidly secured to one end of a hollow push rod 2 and an outer part 4 mounted for axial sliding movement on the inner part and adapted to actuate a rocker arm 14. A pressure chamber 5 is separated from the hollow interior of the push rod by a check valve 7. A sleeve 10 surrounds the outer part 4 so that oil can be supplied from the hollow interior of the push rod to a duct in the rocker arm. In other embodiments Figs.2 and 4 (not shown) oil is passed from the push rod interior to oil supply chambers (15), (19) so as to be immediately available on restarting the engine. Another embodiment Fig.3 (not shown), has a duct (18) to allow leakage oil to be vented to the atmosphere rather than to the push rod interior or oil supply chamber.
