Abstract

1323561 Cleaning and filling casks C A NEUBECKER 14 July 1970 [29 July 1969] Heading B8T 34185/70 A device for cleaning and filling substantially cylindrical metallic casks having a bung in each end face, comprises a support for uprighting the casks and two bung connecting heads 11, 12 one being displaceable and both containing feed pipes for supplying and removing fluids. To facilitate filling from below, means are provided for shock-freezing the base wall, thereby minimizing foaming. To facilitate fluid removal, the bottom head is connected via a sealing bellows to a suction means. During the cleansing operations, the upper head is connected in sequence with various solvent feed conduits. A transporter comprising a support 13 moved by push-bars 14, 15 coupled to an electric motor 16 conveys the casks to the positions 1-9. The operations include: external cleaning at 1, uprighting at 3, interval cleansing at 4-7, vacuum testing of bungs at 8 and shock-freezing at 9.
