Abstract

1323227 N - (Thiadiazolyl) - dithiocarbamic esters AGFA-GEVAERT AG 7 Sept 1971 [9 Sept 1970] 41590/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] Compounds of the general formula where R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen, a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group which may be substituted, an alkoxy, alkylthio, aryloxy, arylthio or aryl group, any of which may be substituted, or a nitro group, R<SP>2</SP> is hydrogen or an alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl group of up to 4 C, and R<SP>3</SP> is a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group, any of which may be substituted, are made by reacting compounds of the formula with carbon disulphide and a base to form the corresponding dithiocarbamic acid salt of the formula where Q is an alkali-metal or a quaternary ammonium group, and then alkylating with a halide R<SP>3</SP>X (where X is halogen). The compounds where R<SP>1</SP> is CF 3 , R<SP>2</SP> is H and R<SP>3</SP> is CH 3 or alternatively benzyl are made by reacting 2- amino-5-trifluoromethyl-1 : 3: 4-thiadiazole with CS 2 in the presence of KOH and dimethylformamide and then treating the product respectively with dimethyl sulphate and benzyl chloride.
