Abstract

Compounds of the following formula <FORM:0940169/C2/1> wherein X is sulphur and R1 is alkyl, aryl, cyclo-alky or aralkyl which may be substituted by halogen or alkoxy, are prepared by reacting 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiodiazole with a halogeno hydrocarbon in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide. Compounds of the above formula wherein X is NH may be prepared by reacting the appropriate thiosemicarbazide with carbon disulphide.
