Abstract

1323010 Placing coils in stators SIEMENS AG 3 June 1971 [3 June 1970] 18894/71 Heading B3A Pre-wound coils made from wire having a varnish insulation are inserted in slots 2 of a stator core 1 and then heated to soften the varnish, which agglutinates and on cooling hardens to make the coil rigid. The individual turns of the coil are held together by adhesive insulating coverings 4 and prior to insertion in the stator slots, the leading end 5 of the coil is compressed so that its thickness is less than that of the slots 2. The coil may be inserted by a tool, Fig. 3 (not shown). A plastic mandrel is inserted in the stator bore to compact the coil in the slots and a current is passed through it to soften the insulation. The core is provided with a thermoplastic insulation layer, particularly on its end faces.
