Abstract
1322812 Photographic light-sensitive materials ILFORD Ltd 12 Jan 1972 [4 Feb 1971] 3957/71 Heading G2C Photographic light sensitive silver halide materials contain in an emulsion layer or in an adjacent layer a water-soluble N-nitrose compound of the formula:- where R 1 and R 2 are each H, halogen, OH, an alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or alkoxy group of 1 to 5 carbons or an aralkyl group, and R 3 is a cation e.g. H, NH 4 , Li, Na or K, such as N-nitroso-phenylhydroxylamine or "Cupferron". Salicylaldoxime and a water-insoluble, solvent-soluble, high boiling organic liquid or oil-former such as dibutyl phthalate may also be present. The N-nitrose compound protects against metal contamination and in silver halide materials reduces latent image instability.
