Abstract

1322515 Shearing SIEMAG SIEGENER MASCHINENBAU GmbH 22 Sept 1970 [25 Sept 1969] 45097/70 Heading B3W Apparatus for shearing metal plates comprises a movable upper blade 5 with cutting edges 6 and 7 for co-operating with lower blades 3 and 10 respectively. The blade 5 is preferably curved and executes a rolling cut to divide the plate by removing a narrow strip. The housing 11 of blade 10, which is on the delivery side of the blade 5, is mounted on a pivotable shaft 12 and the delivery roller table 13 is movable so that for shearing thinner plates, e.g. up to 20 mm. thick, or where a bowed sheared edge is acceptable on plates of greater thickness, the blade 10 can be swung away from the blade 3 to an inoperative position. Means for adjusting the cutting clearance between blade 10 and the edge 7 of blade 5, Fig. 4, comprises a pair of rods 16, 17 movable outwardly by motordriven worm gearing (21), 22 to vary the engagement of inclined faces on the rod ends with complementary faces on blocks 27, 28 fixed to the shear frame 1. Inclined faces on hydraulically-actuated locking pins 18, 19 engage complementary faces 33, 34 on the housing 11. The pins may be maintained in locking position by springs, the hydraulic drive being used only to unlock the pins for adjustment of the rods 16, 17. The cutting clearance between the blade 3 and the cutting edge 6 of the blade 5 is adjustable by means of wedges 15.
