Abstract

1322079 Photo-cathodes MULLARD Ltd 12 Jan 1972 [1 March 1971] 5655/71 Heading H1D A photo-cathode consists of a resistive layer 1 on one surface of which are conductive rings 2 one within another whereby an electric field may be established across the surface, and a photo-emissive layer 7 over and in electrical contact with the resistive layer 1, with an optional intervening phosphor layer 6. An insulating substrate 5 is provided with a central aperture for electric contact with the centre of the ring system by a conductive plate 4 or a contact pin (9), Fig. 3 (not shown). The rings 2 may alternatively be provided on the surface of the resistive layer 1 remote from the photoemissive layer 7. The metallic parts can be aluminium and the phosphor caesium iodide.
